Day 10 - Draw a Circle - Crazy Faith
Wednesday, May 6, 2015
Theme: Bold prayer honors God. God honors bold prayer.
WHAT DID YOU HEAR?
Bold prayer is a bold act. Act boldly.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Pray as if it depends on God. Act as if it depends on you.
I want this phrase to penetrate my BONES. It is one that has been rattling around my brain since the day I heard it. I'm beginning to suspect that despite my prayer journal and all its many entries, it is THIS PHRASE that God wants me to circle.
Very often I start a prayer with, "Lord, please help me with_____" and He accepts that prayer. The problem is, my ACTIONS that follow reflect a prayer that ends with...
"...but after____"
"...but don't send me to____"
"...but don't make me____"
These are prayers of an uncommitted, scared and lazy woman. Especially for others, I can be a prayer WARRIOR. Like, electricity-in-my-body POWERFUL. For myself, I can go AWOL. You can almost here the fizz-pop. It reminds me of Romans 6:17, " I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." I hear ya, Paul. It's enough to want to throw in the towel and make you wonder what God EVER saw in you. Lord, did you mistaken me for someone else?
So it's time to act boldly. What if I am to rephrase the circle prayer from, "Lord, I am going to sit in this circle until You answer my prayer" to "Lord, I am going to act boldly until You answer my prayer"? Imagine if we all did that?
Lord, I'm going to keep eating healthy until You cure me of this disease.
Lord, I am not going to sleep with a guy until you bring me a man worthy of marriage.
Lord, I am going to keep speaking the gospel until You bring a revival in this nation.
Lord, I am going to speak Your truth, discipline, pray over and encourage my child until You give me a quality citizen.
Lord, I am going to continue to work hard, act ethically and provide excellent service until You get me promoted.
Act to conspire with prayer.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Act as if it depends on me, and God has already said yes.
NOW TALK TO GOD...
Lord, help me get out of my own way. In Jesus' name, amen.
