Day 15 - Draw the Circle - Contend for Me
Monday, May 11, 2015
Theme: Prayer is the difference between you fighting for God and God fighting for you.
WHAT DID YOU HEAR?
Prayer is our call to arms, a battle cry in the heavenly realms.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Never mistaken the poetry or inward groaning of prayer as a gentle thing. On the contrary, prayer is an explosion of faith, a battle cry against forces of darkness and a rebellious fist thrown in a fallen world. When we pray, it is a calling of the CREATOR to our side and an acknowledgement that HE IS STILL CREATING. Whether it be mercy, redemption, reconciliation, healing or a miracle, it is our KNOWLEDGE that God CAN, regardless of whether He WILL.
When we hear the voice of Jesus described as a "still, small voice", I believe it is our perception that is small. I imagine that Jesus starts a dialogue with a ROAR that shakes heavenly thrones. By the time it filters through the cacophony of earthly distraction, the influence of our own egos and all the temptations of this world, however, we can barely perceive a whisper.
Prayer has the opposite effect. I believe it gets louder the closer to heaven it travels. It gains power and momentum and strength as it approaches its destination. It builds heat and produces STRAINED tension until it is released as OUR roar in the heavenly realms.
Today, lend you ROAR, that we may be healed.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Pray UNCEASING as I make everything I am and all that I do into a language of prayer.
NOW TALK TO GOD...
Lord, I THANK You for being my commander, that You allow me to be on Your side of the fight and an assured victory. Jesus, thank You for leading the charge, that You are not one to let Your army fight FOR You but You were the first to step into the fray. You are the example of leadership, service, loyalty, and justice. You are my super hero. May my prayers be worthy of who You are. In Jesus' name, amen.
