Theme:  Never underestimate the power of a single prayer.

WHAT DID YOU HEAR?
A prayer of one person has eternal impact.  Assume YOU are the one.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
A couple of years ago I was flipping through a book about someone who had visited Heaven.  As he was on his way back earth to earth, gently descending, he noticed words going passed him, ascending toward Heaven. He was confused by this until he realized they were prayers.  As a visual person, this stuck with me, even to this day. It contributed in shaping my prayer life. 

I love the thought of our prayers becoming tangible and dimensional things as they leave our lips and float toward the heavenly realms.  It is a vision that makes praying such a joyful and imperative act.  Through prayer, our mouths become facilitators of dreams, healing and reconciliation.  It is through prayer the needs of this world travel to God,  conceived here and given life in His capable hands.

What makes the vision of ascending words so powerful is this:  Prayer is the act of faith, even when you don't know if you believe it will be answered.  It's the act of talking to God with the I-don’t-know-but premise, "Lord, I don’t know if you're really there but..." or "I don’t know if this is even worth praying for but..." or "I don’t know if this is going to work but...".  It's everything that comes after the "but" that God can work with.  These can be formed, shaped and answered.

Unlike the silence.

Yes, God can work with all manner of prayer but it is our participation IN prayer that we position ourselves to receive an answer and NOTICE it.  The act of praying is typically followed by expectation.

So what if you don't pray?  You run the risk of missing the blessing, the miracle, the tangible manifestations of God.  Even if they don't come with every prayer, oh beloved, when they do...so we pray.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Pray, as much as I possibly can.

NOW TALK TO GOD...
Father God, thank You for THIS, the unfettered communication You allow between us.  May it never be cut off.  I pray more and more will lend their voices in prayer each day, that we become stronger for it, and collectively, move toward LOVE. In Jesus' mighty name, amen.
