Day 16 - Draw the Circle - Lord, Surprise Me

Thursday, May 21, 2015

ThemeGod always has a holy suprise up His sovereign sleeve.

WHAT DID YOU HEAR?
I am a God of suprises.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
God taps in my life:
-While partying in Manila at 15 I was approached by two Saudis when I was outside of the club alone.  I got away.
-My husband was found in Oregon while I was still living in Florida.
-I got a severance package from a job I quit.
-I ended up sipping tea in Hong Kong with a sister I never knew I had until just a few months before.

The significance of each moment is they happened BEFORE I came back to God as a  prodigal daughter.  I don’t know if I acknowledged them as God taps at the time but certainly, they were moments I felt something bigger than myself, that something much MORE was going on than the playing out of these scenes.  They were to be markers in a story of my renewed acknowledgment of God and certainly, the wonder of this: He saw me.

Surprises come in many packages that include protection, relationships and provision.  Yes, these gifts happen for unbelievers too but oh, the wonders that are MISSED when you fail to acknowledge who did the gifting.  As someone head over heals IN LOVE with the Trinity, it delights me to acknowledge each of these moments were gifts that beckoned me home, that I wasn't meant to be apart from God. None of us are.  As I look back at my days as a pre-Christian, I can see that these moments were dropped in my path so I didn't stay lost.  I was lost for a LONG time.

Spiritual surprises are important moments, moments of clarity in which recognition of God can occur if you let it. Doing so allows more surprises to happen and each one feels SIGNIFICANT. When more happen, you begin to recognize the feeling of God's presence surrounding each surprise. When You feel that presence, you begin to believe you have PURPOSE. When you have purpose, you get to participate in miraculous things.

And then, beloved, you become the best surprise of all.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Look for God's surprises with expectation.

NOW TALK TO GOD...
Lord, thank You for all the ways You will delight and surprise us today and in the days to come. In Jesus' name, Amen.
