The Power in Better Habits
Brothers and sisters who are loved by God,
Sporadic acts that I'm trying to make a habit are these:
- when I complain about provision (dirty dishes, folding laundry etc), I donate items to our church's thrift store. Excess has gotten me cranky.
- when I struggle with my Hashimoto's (difficulty in losing weight, crazy skin, mood swings etc - basically my version of Paul's "thorn in his side"), I look for ways to use my body: as a workout partner, cleaning the house, making jewelry, learning a new skill, or working my business. I know/see too many people with even worse physical limitations not to be grateful for the mobility of my body and the clarity of my mind.
- when I worry about not having enough money, I find peace in giving to places where God's love is MOVING. When Mark and I went through 8 months of unemployment in 2012 we saw very clearly the work of God's provision OUTSIDE of employment. It is abundent, miraculous and MORE than my limited imagination can bring up on its own. I want to be part of that!!
- when I worry about the future, I do something TODAY to give my future a better chance.
This plan is far from perfect and far from a habit YET...but I know my plan. And I'm closer to a habit than I was, even a month ago.
My HABIT QUESTION: How do I use everything I have - my gifting/talents, my resources, my time, my body, all of it - to BE the love of Jesus on this earth? I'm excited to find out the answer!
And YAY!! Every year, I get a song that speaks to my BONES and I got 2015's this morning (my alarm is set to Pandora's Christian Contemporary station): Phil Wickham's "This is Amazing Grace" - m.youtube.com/watch?v=XFRjr_x-yxU
This makes me throw my arms OUT!! 😆😄😁
