The Unforgiveness of Myself
I find the area that I separate from God and His peace is with the unforgiveness of myself. I take it upon myself to self-punish instead of turning my angst over to God. I try to see myself through my Father's eyes but it's very difficult. I acknowledge the sin of taking on God's role of judge when it comes to the way I see myself and repent of it. As I type that, I hear God pressing into my heart, "If I didn't think you were capable of more, beyond your past, I would've left you where you were." What a merciful and gracious God we have! In his sermon, Tyler mentioned that we should have a statement ready in our minds that will counteract any negative thoughts. Mine is "Habits can change and I don't have to give in." Father, I ask that You give me your eyes to see, that I filter all my thoughts and actions through your loving gaze. In Jesus name, amen.
