Being Christian Does Not Guarantee an Easy Life

November 11, 2012

Being a Christian does not guarantee an easy life. It didn't protect me from losing my dad to cancer but it gave my dad and I comfort to be ministered to through a pastoral visit. It allowed us to pray as a family and as a community of believers. I was blessed to hear my dad say, "Do you see them high in the sky? That's the light of the good guys" and it allowed us to say, "See you later" instead of goodbye.

Being a Christian does not guarantee an easy life. It didn't protect my family from unemployment but we were never without hope. We watched our family and faith family come alongside through prayer, acts of kindness, giving and encouragement. They helped us look for work and we were never forgotten or made to feel LESS. They allowed us to see the hands and feet of Jesus in tangible ways. We saw prayers ANSWERED through miraculous provision and as the world said unemployment is a path to calamity; our God used it for opportunity.

Being a Christian does not guarantee an easy life. It doesn't erase the pain of my past or relieve me of my memories but God has provided ways to use it all for good. He has brought people into my life that understand me and see me as more than who I've been. I have been given venues to share my story so others feel less alone. I have been made NEW and my chains are broken. I am more than I ever thought I could be and with my new eyes I see that others can be too. I remember a time when I couldn't remember what love felt like and today, it's not possible to be without it.

Being a Christian does not guarantee an easy life but it is giving me a life lived fully.
