Despite It All, a poem
I wrote this poem weeks before my dad passed away from cancer. It was a practice in managing my pain and keeping my eyes on hope.
Despite It All
Though one may clutch against my chest
I raise the other in worship
Though this may break under the test
It beats the rhythm of worship
Though these may stumble to a crawl
I walk so I may worship
Though it may bow and my chin should fall
I'll think of You with worship
Though from these two the tears should flow
I seek You in my worship
Though from these two I cry to know
I sing to You in worship
Though these may clench and twist and cling
They reach for You in worship
Though these may buckle in the ring
I will kneel for You to worship
And through the darkness comes your light
Forever worthy of my worship
