A Key to Success

November 14, 2012

I think a key to success is being okay with failing while people watch. It's rare that either occurs in a vacuum. Success and failure are measures of judgement only so far as how they impact SOMEone, whether it be you, someone else or many -- but in stepping out, it is almost inevitable that there's at least one other who sees and is waiting to see what happens.

It's counter intuitive to ma
ke yourself that vulnerable to scrutiny but the truth is that you have to be exposed to that potential of failing in order to recognize success when you finally reach it. No one has ever mistaken treasure for another shovel full of dirt. You just have to decide to pick up a shovel and go for it.

Each time you make yourself open to judgement an override of self preservation takes place. The doing has to become more important than whatever result may follow. You have to see the lack of action as more tragic than the potential of public humiliation. --- And no one can do that for you but you.

I pray for boldness today and everyday. I pray that my fear of regret is bigger than my fear of failure. I pray that I keep trying even if success never occurs and if it does, that I recognize it as such, whatever size it comes in. I pray the same for you. Don't just be a person of potential. Be a person fully realized...and let us watch.
